Neighborhood Homework Club Community Garden

The children have started a community garden in my backyard turning an old sandbox into a garden of their own. We started seedlings in March (too late, I hope not) planting sunflowers, tomatoes, cucumbers, and herbs. We nurtured our garden interest with a visit to Copper Moose Farms - a local organic CSA farm in Park City. Daisy and Lauren from CM taught the children the basics of running an organic garden. We learned about composting, how to care for bees, how to manage a greenhouse, and when to plant certain vegetables. Our tomatoes look nothing like the gorgeous tomatoes we saw in the greenhouse! We have a lot to learn but we are enjoying the process. Thank you to Daisy for her time and the lesson she taught our children. They now have a basic understanding where food comes from and how long it takes to go from seed to mouth!

The children actually need some recreational activities, and it is good to know that they have indulged into something nice.
